Different results require
a different approach.

Research and evidence that exist for how to improve education are often missing the critical voices and context needed to make them relevant resources for improving the educational experience. What if researchers, school leaders, teachers, and students were the engine for change — the spark of continued improvement? By centering those most impacted by change, by taking into consideration the context, success is much more assured.

The relationship between research and improvement is inextricably linked. Research generates evidence for change. Continuous improvement allows busy practitioners to use data to adapt and implement changes in their context and generate new innovations and questions for future research. A learning network provides an intentional structure for schools to learn from each other and build a community committed to meeting ambitious improvement goals together.

Shift’s approach to improvement bridges that research gap and weaves together the principles of continuous improvement and human-centered design to support wide scale, sustainable adoption of change.
